When 33-year-old Rea Tapang lost her hair as a side effect of her breast cancer treatment, she was truly distressed.
“Hair is like my crowning glory, so I didn’t know who I was when I didn’t have it,” says Rea, who underwent a double mastectomy and many chemotherapy treatments.
But thanks to the amazing CCS wig bank program, made possible through your support, Rea found herself a free wig — and a giant boost of confidence.
“Receiving a wig from the Canadian Cancer Society allowed me to feel like myself again. It changed how I felt about my cancer,” says Rea.
Losing her hair is just one of the many challenges that women face on their breast cancer journeys. Your generosity helps Canadian women in need obtain a wig — and a chance to regain their sense of self.
“I’m so thankful to people who have donated to the breast cancer cause,” says Rea. “Thanks to your generosity, I was able to get the support and treatments I needed during my cancer journey.”
Thank you for supporting the wig bank program — and helping people like Rea gain self-confidence and build resilience after treatment.
